Project 28 of 52: Cars Cupcakes

For Nephew's Birthday party I made cupcakes so it would be a little easier.

We had his party at a local children's spot.

The cupcakes were easy for everybody to just grab and eat.

I decided to make them all gluten free.

I knew that even though nephew wanted 'brown' cake,

If he saw yellow cake he'd want some too.

I was right.

Thank God I saw that coming ahead of time.

I also made chocolate and vanilla buttercream frosting.

I put vanilla on both chocolate and yellow cupcakes.

And chocolate on both cupcakes too.

Project 27 of 52: Gluten Free Chocolate Winnie the Pooh Cake

My favorite character is Winnie the Pooh so ever since Nephew was born I have tried to make sure he knows that Pooh is awesome. He's catching on pretty good.

Since I love Winnie the Pooh so much I was pretty excited when I was given a Pooh shaped cake pan. I'm not so good at making cakes for my own birthday so I had to convince Nephew that he needed a Pooh cake.

He was so torn between Lightning McQueen and Pooh that every time I asked him, he would go back and forth between the two. One day it would be Pooh and the next it was Lightning.

We finally settled on Pooh for his actual birthday since it fell during the week and Lightning for his party on the weekend.

That week no one said anything more to him about the Pooh cake but Sis-in-law said he got up that morning and said 'Today's Winnie the Pooh cake day' It was so darn cute that he knew without us telling him.

I made the cake using this recipe and it came out just as well as a cake as it did as cupcakes.

The yellow of the hunny was different than his body but you can't really tell in the pictures.

Nephew loved it and that's all that matters :)
